Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Dear Families,
Happy Valentine's Day to the entire Belmont School community. We have reached the end of the first half of the Spring Term!
We are sadly saying goodbye and good luck to Mr Brett who will be leaving us today to start a new adventure elsewhere. We know that you will want to wish him well and would also like to join me in thanking him for all of his hard work and dedication to our pupils. We are very lucky to have Miss O'Neill, who has joined us as the new Star 1 teacher.
Our Reception pupils also celebrated their first 100 days at Belmont School yesterday and enjoyed a day of celebrations and collecting smiles! They have so much progress and we cannot see more.
We have had the pleasure of having two wonderful family meeting evenings this week, and it was wonderful to receive the wonderful feedback from parents who were able to see how much progress their children have made, and it is a real testament to the motto 'Stronger Together'! We will be rescheduling some of the meetings that were cancelled due to staff absence after the holiday. Please look out for emails.
Sustainability at Belmont School
The sustainability team would like to remind families that, as a sustainable school, we are banning the use of single-use plastic bottles and asking families to buy reusable water bottles that do not harm the environment:

When buying bottles in the half-term, please make sure that they are not made from glass. Thank you for your support in this urgent matter.
Some of our Year 5 pupils visited the Eden project in Autumn and support the making of the following video: https://youtu.be/skno-nqCgzE?feature=shared, please do watch and reflect.
UNCRC - Rights of a child
As half-term is next week, the RRS Ambassadors would like to share 'Article 31':
Article 31 of the UNCRC says that children and young people have the right to have fun in the way they want to, whether by playing sports, watching films, or doing something else entirely. They have the right to rest, too.
Children and young people should be able to take part freely in cultural activities, just like adults. The government should make sure it’s easy for them to do this whether or not they have a disability.

Assemblies
Well done to all the pupils in 3 Galaxy and 3 Mercury for two wonderful performances. The parents were serenaded with some beautiful songs today! Thank you staff for making the magic happen and our families for supporting your children! We cannot wait for 3 Planets assembly after half-term.
We are a Fit4Life Charter School
Every newsletter we will be sharing 'Family Pledges'. In this newsletter, we would love for you to use the half-term and to:

The NHS Website: https://www.nhs.uk/healthier-families/activities/, has some fantastic ideas. But you could go to the park, go for a local walk or even go swimming!
We would love to hear how you kept fit in the half term break!

Outstandingly Happy Harrow School!
The pupils in Year 5 have been learning more about living outside their zone of comfort and would like to share the following quote with you:

Do not forget that as a school we are all working in the 2% Mindset mode:

I look forward to handing out special badges to those in the wider school community who practice and spread the messages of joy and happiness! It might even be you!
Communication
We will be sending out the 'What's On' list, as well as the home learning and curriculum overviews that will include information on what your child will learn this term.
A reminder to all families, that if you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of staff on duty or email the school office via office@belmont.harrow.sch.uk or by submitting your query on our virtual form found on our website (https://www.belmont.harrow.sch.uk/contact-us-form). We aim to respond to queries within 10 working days as outlined in our Positive Communication Policy, which can be found in the policy section on our website, where you will also find:
- Community Behaviour Policy
- Complaints Policy and Procedure
- Managing Serial and Unreasonable Complaints Policy
Finally, we hope that you have a lovely half-term break, and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 24th February at 8.35am!
Yours sincerely,
Mrs P Aggarwall
