Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Dear Parents and Carers,
The first term of Spring has come to end! We have had so much to celebrate and your children are progressing into confident readers and learners!
We are participating in the Green School Project in Year 4, Outstandingly Happy Harrow School in Year 5 (see below for more exciting information) and providing experiences for your children to have cross curricular experiences such as DT Day, that involved your children developing their knowledge and understanding of food, hygiene and following recipes!
Next half term, we are looking forward to pupils exploring outside of school and have many exicitng trips, visits and tournaments organised, so please do watch this space!
OPAL Award
We are excited in annoucing that we have achieved the Gold Outdoor Learning and Play Award only 8 months into the process!
A huge congratulations to Mrs Verro, Mr Revens, Mrs McGlone, the Lunch Time Play Leaders, the OPAL Team and to you all for your kind donations that allows all pupils at Belmont School to have the right to relax and play!
Parent and Carer Consultation Evenings
Once again, we had two successful evenings where many of you attended meetings with your child's teacher in person or virtually.
I would like to thank our wonderful Year 6 Prefects and Digital Leaders, who gave up their time to show you around and showcase some of our extraordinary Computing Curriculum.
Outstandingly Happy Harrow School!
On Friday 12th January, Year 5 attended the KP Centre in Harrow with 5 other schools to learn more information about what it takes to be truly happy!
They worked with Will Hussey from Art of Brilliance who ran the day and introduced the pupils and staff to:
- The Science of Flourishing
- Understand the concept of perspective; there is always an alternative
- Consider how to make positive choices
- Recognise that our thoughts impact our feelings, which in turn influence our behaviour and outcomes
- Contemplate the 2%er ‘best’ version of themselves
- Cultivate an attitude of gratitude
- Be challenged to consider how to become ‘brilliant’ at anything
- Embrace responsibility for their learning
- Understand the 5 key stepping stones to mastery
- Acknowledge and assess their own ‘resilient’ learning behaviours
- Harness the ‘5 Eyes’ (tools for getting to know someone new)
- Utilise ‘Indiana Jones’ thinking (how to deal with risk)
- Put things into perspective with ‘Snow Globe Thinking’
- Step outside the wardrobe and change their own personal narrative (Narnia Thinking)
- What next? The importance of self-discipline and self-control
- How to cause a positive ripple effect
The day was designed to be positively challenging, interactive and fun. The Year 5 pupils learnt about the art transformation and will be working on projects that are linked to ROAR that will inspire our school Community, but all of Harrow! We have a page dedicated to the project and will be sending quotes and examples of how we could all spread a bit of hapiness around as they have being doing all day! Watch this space!
Assemblies
What an amazing class assembly by 4 Mars today who exemplifed the Happy Harrow Project by sharing the important message of Mental Health and Wellbeing! They shared that self love must come first!
Last week, 4 Venus showcased National Story Telling Week! All pupils spoke and recited poetry confidently, sharing expectation learning and sang a wonderful song. You all should be super proud of yourselves. We had an amazing turnout from parents too. Thank you for your continued support.
Reading log
This half term, we had many of our pupils who found 'Golden Tickets' in their reading books. We have loads more dotted around the school and in virtual books, so please do ensure that you log your child's reading on the App.
Well done to all of our regular readers who have been reading non-stop at home since the beginning of term:
