Global Goal 4 – Quality Education - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been an amazing start to the academic year, and it's hard to believe that we are already in October! Your children have settled into a routine and are enjoying the curriculum. We are also really excited to share and celebrate some of your children's out of school achievements. A special thank you to Sheroz and Feroz (in Key Stage 2), who shared their Taekwondo Gold and Bronze medals from a competition that they took part in September! Tiana, also shared some of her amazing extracurricular learning medals that she received as part of her 11+ journey! Well done to you all! If your child has taken part in competitions and/or has won awards outside of school, do please share it with us, we would love to share their achievements with the school community.
As the weather has set into Autumn, please make sure that your child has an coat/jacket, is wearing black school shoes or trainers - please note boots are not part of the school uniform policy and all long hair tied up. Remember to label all bits of clothing including water bottles.
We are really pleased that all children in Reception are eating the school lunches, and we hope that all pupils in Key Stage 1 will do the same. Remember to book all your meals on Parent Pay in advance.
You may have heard that children have taken part in many assemblies about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). They reviewed their knowledge of the 54 articles that cover all aspects of a child’s life and set out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that all children everywhere are entitled to. They will be learning about them across lessons and how they link to the Global Globals for Sustainable Development.
6 Saturn's Class Assembly
It was great to see the 6 Saturn assembly that they planned and created themselves. They showcased some of what they have learnt so far and have set the bar high for future class assemblies. We will start with Year 5 and 6 this term, with the rest of the school spread out across the rest of the academic.
It has also been so wonderful to see so many parents attending our Parent events. We update our website regularly and all presentations are up on the website in the curriculum section for you to view at your convenience. We will be hosting further curriculum mornings after the half-term holiday.
Review of Morning Routines
We are aiming to review the start time for Reception to Year 6. We are proposing a 'soft start' from 8.40am to 8.50am, where families will be able to drop reception pupils at the reception gate, Year 1, 3, 5 and 6 pupils will be dropped off at the gate by reception and Years 2 and 4 will go down the Stargazer's way. The children will go straight into their classes where the teacher will be present.
This will hopefully help with getting the children in to school quicker and would mean that all children must be in class by 8.50am when the register is completed.
We will be keeping the queueing system at the end of the day, but will be moving Year 6 to 3.05pm collection.
We would love to know if you are with the proposed changes, by answering a few questions below. The survey will be closed on Friday 14th October.
Many thanks in advance. https://forms.office.com/r/UFdbz8FpGw
Parent's Evening
This half-term will be hosting Parent's Evening in person and virtually on the following days:
Monday 17th October - In Person
Wednesday 19th October - Virtually via My Teams.
A letter will be sent on Monday to share how you are able to book to see your child's teacher.
School Ping Communication Letters
Some of you may receive a school ping letters regarding uniform, hair, home learning and a few other things. This helps communication between the school and parents/carers. If your child is not wearing the correct uniform or has not completed their home learning for good reasons, then it is important that you contact us to save you receiving a school ping from us. If you would like to find out more information, this will be discussed in the forthcoming parents evenings.
Communication
A reminder to all parents/carers, that if you have any issues or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of staff on duty or email the school office via office@belmont.harrow.sch.uk or by submitting your query on our virtual form found on our website (https://www.belmont.harrow.sch.uk/contact-us-form). We aim to respond to queries within 10 working days as outlined in our Positive Communication Policy that can be found in the policy section on our website, where you will also find:
- Community Behaviour Policy
- Complaints Policy and Procedure
- Managing Serial and Unreasonable Complaints Policy
We hope you enjoy the weekend.
